Importante, ne vale la vostra sicurezza!!

"We think it's best you check your 2009 chicken loop! A small number of 2009 BEST chicken loops have been shipped with a possible non-functioning quick release mechanism. The problem has arisen where part of the internal section of the chicken loop is injected with "thread lock." A small amount of excess in some cases has seeped out after the injection gluing the eject sleeve to the chicken loop. If you were an early adopter of the 2009 BEST bar or chicken loop you can simply test this by activating the release on the chicken loop and seeing if it releases.


If your loop does not release then follow the simple instructions below to rectify it, or alternatively take it back to your BEST dealer to have them fix the problem for you. The solution is quite simple, and even if your loop is not sticking we suggest you check anyway to see if there is any seeping thread lock as this may soften and become gluey in extreme heat conditions.

1. To check the safe function of the QR push up on the external cuff, if the QR opens the bar is functioning correctly.
2. If the QR fails to open, insert a flat edge screwdriver in between the internal and external parts of the Chickenloop cuff and twist it sideways to separate the two parts. Turn the chickenloop over and repeat on the opposite side.
3. Push the cuff to open the QR, if the cuff opens you have successfully fixed the QR, if it fails to open repeat stage 2 using a little more force.
4. As an extra safety measure any excess glue on the internal body of the Chickenloop, as shown below, should be removed by scalping it off with a flat blade."

New speed World Record @ Speedweek in Namibie

"New World Record, and 50 knots falls! - unratified

Just in - still to be confirmed by WSSRC officials, but we may have a new world record of 50.1 knots, set by Sebastian Cattelan in a brilliant early run. Rob Douglas set a scorching 49.9 knots, then Catman blew past on the very next run with 50.1 knots. Sjoukje Bredenkamp (ZA) has blasted her old record of 42.35 knots with a 45.1 knot run. Results still to be ratified on video records and adjusted for currents by WSSRC officials. Windsurfers now very, very hungry to get out there as ESF event organisers reset the course for high tide conditions. Bjorn Dunkerbeck comments that he is very confident of doing some sizzling runs this afternoon still."

KPWT Superkite Wave Masters

The Superkite Brasil Wave Masters 2008 have been completed today. The show started at 8am with the women competition. First riders in the water: Kirsty Jones and Ainhoa Garcia. Followed by Kristin Boese and Kari Schibevaag. 4 different European countries in the fight ! Ainhoa Garcia, handicapped with a knee injury, did her best but only managed to reach the 4th place. Kristin Boese, 2007 KPWT World Champion, got the third place. Kari Schibevaag from Norway has incredibly improved in this discipline but she left the first place to the British Kirsty Jones, specialist in waves.

On the men side, the battle was tight from the start in Pico das Almas. Only one Brazilian rider made his way through the finals: Ian Glaza Owczarzak. In front of him full expertised KPWT competitor: Jesse Richman and Jan Marcos Riveras. In the looser final, Jesse Richman gave his outmost versus Abel Lago, the 2007 KPWT Wave World Champion. The two talented riders performed very well and the kid from Hawaïï won the 3rd place overall. In the Final, two Kitesurfing nations were represented: Dominican Republic and Brasil. Jan Marcos Riveras from Dominican Republic astonished the spectators on the beach. A pure show man! Ian Glaza Owczarzak, from Brazil, also passed amazing moves and imposed his style. After an incredible heat, the victory finally went to the Dominican Republic and Jan Marcos Riveras.

The whole caravan came straight back to the Golfinho Hotel for the Course Racing competition. As we are writing this press release, the first course race is running. The programme for the week-end is very hectic: Course Racing, Freestyle, Kiteloop and Big Air. No time to rest. Cumbuco is one of the rare spots in the world where you do not have to worry about the wind. The wind is programmed like a ventilator and keeps blowing all day long.

Zeeko Notus

Zeeko Kiteboarding is a new kitesurf company, managed by Nicolas Caillou.
Their first kite is almost hitting the market and we bring you the first information about it… It is called Notus.

Notus kite is the last creation of one of the most active R&D department in the kitesurf world since the last five years.
Notus kite is a kind of alchemy between the current tendencies in modern kiteboarding. This new kites will allow you to progress safely and to develop a sporting style thanks to its high reactivity and its power under control.

Here, no radical design without any compromise, the kite is not a full delta design (too slow and to heavy in bar), not a full bow kite (collapsing trouble), not a real-c-shape (weak depower capability), but Notus takes the best of each design to be the real weapon for kiteboarding.
The kite shape associated to the bridling system and the exclusive Zeeko bar allow it to suit all riding styles and make one of the highest performance hybrid kite of the market for unhooked tricks and jumps.

The team had only one target designing the Notus: make a high performance kite with an easy handling.

Especially, the R&D team worked on the ability to use the kite for unhooked tricks and for free-style. Indeed, the kite doesn’t over-sheet, doesn’t stop in kiteloops allowing you to try this trick safely. The constant pulling associated to the wide wind window drive to one of the most performing kite for unhooked riding.

Nevertheless, the pure performance remains high. The narrow tips and the powerful profiles leads to an incredible kite concerning the upwind ability and the hangtime. It is super easy to jump with the Notus kite, handling is immediate to pass high jumps, you just have to sheet in the bar and the Notus kite delivers immediately tons of power allowing to make high jumps and soft landings, no need to “pilot” your kite to jump high.

The Zeeko bar for Notus kites is supplied with 20+4m flying lines.
All sizes are designed to be ridden with these 2 different lengths, increasing the wind range of the kites and optimizing the jumps (24m) or the waveriding (20m) abilities of the kite.
The Zeeko bar included the latest features: trimmable length (46/54cm), a reliable quick release, extension lines to ride with standard length lines or short lines, a clever webbing adjuster, a mini 5th line and, above all, a revolutionary chicken loop dedicated for unhooked riding and twistable.

The shape of the kite allows to an easy relaunching under any circumstances. The narrow tips associated to a new curve of the leading edge help the relaunching. Pulling a back bridle is enough to relaunch the kite in light winds, more the kite goes automatically to the edge of the wind window, ready to be relaunched.

The Notus kite is delivered with the most reliable one pump device of the market, each strut can be isolated using clamps. Fix a bladder is easy, all the one pump device is outside. In order to prevent aging, all the pieces of the one pump device are covered by neopren.

The Notus will be available in 4 sizes: 7m, 9m, 11m and 13m.
